Melanie McKean, D.O., Ph.D.

Melanie McKean, D.O., Ph.D., earned her medical and graduate degrees from Oklahoma State University-Center for Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a combined Internal Medicine-Psychiatry residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. McKean was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine at Saint Louis University, followed by serving as the Medical Director of both the Women’s Reproductive Mental Health Program and the Adult Eating Disorders Intensive Outpatient Program at Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute, and most recently she was a psychiatrist at McCallum Place Eating Disorder Centers and Webster Wellness Professionals.

In January 2024, she opened McKean Reproductive Psychiatry, LLC, providing comprehensive and personalized reproductive mental health care for women. Her practice focuses on preconception counseling, antepartum and postpartum mood and anxiety, PMDD, female sexual health, pelvic pain, infertility, pregnancy loss, and perimenopause.

Dr. McKean also spends time volunteering with causes that empower girls and women. In addition to being an Empowerment Speaker for Girls in the Know and a member of the Gateway Chapter of National Charity League, Inc., she serves on the boards of The Wilson School, the St. Louis Diaper Bank, and Girls in the Know.
